House sees verbal cat's fight

Pheu Thai MP Arunee Chumnanya on Thursday lashed out at Democrat MP Rangsima Rodrasamee for trying to insult the dignity of their female gender by posing an inappropriate question a fellow woman Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

“I am seriously questioning why a woman MP is trying to insult our female leader,” she said from the House floor during the question-and-answer session.

Arunee intervened after Rangsima tried to pose a question why Yingluck set aside personal time to visit the Four Seasons Hotel around noon last Wednesday.
She said Rangsima had an ulterior motive onYingluck’s personal affairs by using the gender card to discredit the prime minister.
The coalition and opposition lawmakers exchanged sharp words on the issue and temper flared, prompting House Speaker Somsak Kiartsuranont to call a 15-minute recess. The session subsequently collapsed.
Yingluck was absent because she was on the final leg of the four-day trip to inspect flood-control projects in the North and Central Region. Her last stop was Ayutthaya.
