Prayuth said there are only some 80,000 police officers in Bangkok, who are already loaded with works to prevent and deal with normal crimes so it is impossible for the public to solely depend on police to prevent terrorism.
“Bangkok has 10 million people and ten million pairs of eyes so they need to help monitor to prevent untoward incidents,” Prayuth said.
Prayuth said there were more chances that Thailand would be hit by terror attacks because the world has become borderless. The Army chief said when Thailand is fully integrated into the Asean Economic Cooperation, traveling between Asean nations would be easier and the chances of seeing untoward incidents happen would be greater.
