The Artist star Jean Dujardin wins best actor Oscar
Los Angeles - Jean Dujardin, the French star of The Artist, won the Academy Award for best actor Sunday, beating out a strong field headed by Hollywood superstars George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
In his first appearance before US audiences, Dujardin played a silent movie star whose world crumbles with the introduction of talkies. He speaks the only two spoken words in the entire movie.
"I love your country," said the 39-year-old actor, who paid tribute to Hollywood stars of the past for inspiring him in the role.//DPA
