Two political parties disbanded

The Constitution Court on Wednesday ruled to disband two political parties on grounds for failing to report their actvities in 2009 and barring party executives from holding office for five years.

Under the Constitution and the organic law on political parties, a party is obliged to submit its annual report on activities to the political party registrar. Failing to report is an offence punishable by party disbandment and a job ban of executives.
The disbanded parties are Siam, which was formed in 1999, located in Rayong with about 9,000 members, and Puen Kasetthai, which was formed in 2002 in Kanchanaburi with about 12,000 members.
