Canal water test

Saraburi Governor Thavorn Phrommeechai yesterday urged locals not to use water from a canal near the fireworks factory in Kaeng Khoy district that burned down on Tuesday evening.

Samples from the canal were being tested for quality, he said, adding that the provincial industrial official was checking the factory’s operating permit.
The blaze broke out at Pacific Pyro Co’s factory and spread to four warehouses, sending fireworks shooting in all directions. More than 20 fire engines were called in. One fireman was injured.
The fire was brought under control by about 8.30pm after all four warehouses were destroyed. The cause of the fire was under investigation but it was initially believed to be an accident.
