Yingluck blames low voter turnout for by-election defeat

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Monday blamed the low voter turnout for her Pheu Thai Party's defeat in the Sunday by-election in Pathum Thani.

The by-election saw Democrat Party MP candidate Kiatisak Songsaeng beat Pheu Thai Party MP candidate Somchai Rangsiwattanasak in constituency 5, Pathum Thani Lam Luka district.
Yingluck said the turnout was only 30 per cent and the by-election result could not compare to results of a general election.
