The first train that headed out was the one to Ubon Ratchathani.
The bogies derailed at around 3pm on Tuesday, blocking the rail tracks and leaking about 200,000 litres of crude oil. The 27bogie train was en route from Phitsanulok to deliver oil to the Bangchak Petroleum refinery.
Bangchak and SRT workers have been transferring the remainder of the oil into trucks for delivery to the refinery, with only two tankers left to empty as of press time yesterday.
SRT officials said that once all the oil has been unloaded, the carriages would be pulled into the Bang Sue locomotive workshop and the damaged rail track repaired to resume normal operations. The procedure should be completed in two days. Initial damage has been estimated at Bt160 million.
