BMA, True Internet resume free Wi-Fi service

Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra Monday signed an agreement with True Internet to resume the Bangkok Wi-Fi project that will provide free Wi-Fi internet connection from 20,000 hotspots around the capital.

The governor said Bangkok residents can use their identification card to register for username and password for using the free service.
There are two kinds of services. The first one has the download speed of 2 Mbps and upload speed of 512 Kbps but the users can use the service only for five hours per a month.
The second type of service has a download speed of 256 kbps and upload speed of 128 kbps with unlimited usage.
Sukhumbhand said the project would initially support 150,000 users and the service would continue for three years, and True Internet would increase its capacity to support about 300,000 more users a year. True Internet would also increase the number of its hotspots to about 30,000 hotspots.
