Fiery MPs accuse Parlt president of bias

Democrat MPs aim to call on the Ombudsman to investigate Parliament President Somsak Kiartsuranon whom they accuse of favouring the government and being biased against the opposition.

Democrat MP Satit Pitutecha said that Somsak, who is also a Pheu Thai Party MP, overly praised Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s performance and let Pheu Thai MPs and senators debate freely. He constantly reprimanded members of the opposition and interrupted their speeches.

The MP said he would gather information and consult with the Chief Opposition Whip before calling on the Ombudsman to investigate the matter.

Another opposition MP Niphon Bunyamanee threw his papers and heatedly refused to continue his speech during yesterday’s meeting when he was interrupted by Pheu Thai MPs and the president, claiming he wandered off the point.

On Tuesday night, Democrat MP Boonyod Sukthinthai gave the notorious “Heil Hitler” salute in front of Parliament president Somsak, accusing him of bias towards the opposition and favouring the government.
Democrat Trang MP Somboon Uthaiwienkul accused the president of being “Parliament’s dictator”.
