EC seeks court's ruling to disqualify MP Karun

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, 2012

The Election Commission Wednesday resolved to issue a red-card against Pheu Thai MP Karun Hosakul for allegedly defaming the Democrat Party during election campaigns.

EC Secretary-General Phuchong Nutrawong said the EC voted with the majority decision to file a lawsuit against Karun, the MP of Bangkok’s Constituency 12, for allegedly defaming the Democrat and its MP on June 3 and June 12 2011.

Phuchong said Karun must stop performing his duty as an MP if the court accepts the lawsuit for trial until the court makes a ruling.
The EC saw that Karun unfairly attacked Democrat’s failed candidate for Bangkok’s Constituency 12, Thaenkhun Jit-isara while he was campaigning at the Boon Anan Market and Kosoom Ruamjai Market.
