Three suspected kidnappers

Songkhla's Hat Yai police yesterday announced the arrest of three suspects who claimed to be drug suppression police and abducted their victims for a Bt100,000 ransom. The three reportedly confessed to have kidnapped 20 persons in the past.

A Pathum Thani-based policeman’s son, Watcharin Kultharo, 29, also wanted in a robbery case last September, was arrested along with subordinates Danai Prakit, 29, and Supakit Kaewpradap, 24, during a police sting to pay the discounted ransom of Bt30,000 on June 22 after the trio had kidnapped Thanu Muang-la-or, 40.
Police seized 34 items, including a pistol, handcuffs, communication radios, bullet-proof vests, two police logo cards, and three drug-test kits.
The gang had abducted a victim, suspected of taking drugs or with a previous drug-related history, and detained him in a Hat Yai resort, demanding a Bt100,000 ransom, police said.
