Malaysian court allows deportation of Iranian bombing suspect

A Malaysian court on Monday allowed the deportation of an Iranian national suspected of being involved in bombings in Bangkok in February that injured several people.

Malaysian Sessions Court Judge S Komathy said there was enough evidence that Masoud Sedaghatzadeh, 31, was a criminal fugitive who should be handed into the custody of Thai authorities.

She said the suspect would remain in jail until the minister of home affairs orders his deportation.

Sedaghatzadeh said he would appeal the court's decision.

He was among five Iranian nationals wanted by Thai authorities for alleged involvement in a series of explosions in Bangkok on February14.

Two more Iranian suspects were being detained in Bangkok while the others remained free and were believed to have returned to Iran.

Sedaghatzadeh was arrested by Malaysian authorities on February 15 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport as he was about to board a flight back to Iran.
