Thai authorities seek release of over 80 Thais captured by Myanmar officials

Thai officials in Ranong are seeking to negotiate with their Myanmar counterparts for release of over 80 Thais captured by Myanmar authorities for encroaching on Myanmar soil.

Thai authorities believe hundreds of Thai encroachers are still stranded and hiding on the Myanmar side after Myanmar authorities cracked down on the alleged encroachers in the afternoon on Wednesday.
Thai officials and Thais, who have fled across the border back, said over 300 families of Thais or about 800 of the have cleared forests and set up a community in area between Thai-Myanmar borders across from Kraburi district in Ranong.
