Thaksin gets US visa

For the past few months, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been seeking a visa to enter the United States, and was granted one recently, his legal adviser Noppadon Pattama said yesterday.
“However, his being granted the visa is not linked to Nasa’s request to use the U-tapao airbase for conducting weather research,” he said.
Noppadon added that he had not confirmed earlier the granting of the visa due to concerns that the Democrats would politicise the issue. He did not comment on whether Thaksin had any immediate plans to travel to the US.
