Two nabbed after South attack

Two suspects have been arrested after a soldier and two civilians were killed in an attack on an Army base in Narathiwat's Rusoh district on Tuesday, an officer said Wednesday.

Colonel Pramote Phromin, a public relations officer at Sirindhorn camp, said some 20 insurgents dressed like security officials had carried out the gun attack from two pickup trucks and three motorcycles. He said several of the insurgents had been injured and two nabbed in a manhunt.
Deputy Prime Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapha, who was scheduled to visit South border provinces last night, said he would make changes to the security plan during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which runs from July 20 to August 20 this year. He said these changes were necessary because insurgents might be planning to carry out major attacks and may target a military base in a community area.
