Wall St ends mixed

US stocks closed flat overnight amid fading enthusiasm over improved retail sales and better-than-expected economic news from euro zone.
Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 2.71 points, or 0.02 per cent to end at 13,172.14. 
S&P 500 slipped 0.18 points, or 0.01 per cent to 1,403.93.
Most key S&P sectors fell,led by materials and techs, while consumer staples rose.
Nasdaq composite fell 5.54 points, or 0.18 per cent to 3,016.98.
