Jatuporn Charoenchua, vice chairman of the House committee on prevention and relief of natural disasters, said the estate will be safe from floods this year.
He was speaking after inspecting the construction of anti-flood dykes at Ban Wah industrial estate in Bang Pa-in district.
The government has allocated Bt550 million for the construction of the dykes, which are now 90 per cent complete. The project should be completed in the next few weeks.
The massive floods at the industrial estate last year was five metres above mean sea level (MSL) while the dykes under construction are 5.5 metres above MSL.
He said the Ayutthaya governor had assured that the provincial administration, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand and the private sector that everything was prepared for possible inundation.
“The latest assessment gave us confidence that the area will be free from floods this year,” Jatuporn said.
