CWC gives green light to Bt300 basic wage next year

The Central Wage Committee Wednesday resolved to implement the government's Bt300 minimum wage policy in 70 provinces starting January 1 next year, after studies found the policy would not adversely affect the overall economy as feared.

Labour Ministry permanent-secretary Dr Somkiat Chayasriwong said after the meeting the committee upheld its decision of October 17 last year to increase the minimum wage to Bt300 per day in 70 provinces starting from January 1, next year.
The wage will remain at this rate over the next two years or till 2015.
