The trip is the first leg of a nine-day tour to mark Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. The royal couple will also visit the Commonwealth nations of Malaysia, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were scheduled to arrive Tuesday and go directly to the Botanical Gardens. They were to be hosted at dinner by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan.
On Wednesday, they will visit a Rolls-Royce aero engine factory and tour the Queenstown district, named after the duke's grandmother Queen Elizabeth in 1953.
The couple will attend a ceremony Thursday at the Kranji War Memorial, final resting place for 4,458 fallen soldiers that commemorates more than 24,000 Allied troops killed during World WarII.//DPA
