He was speaking at a red-shirt rally at Democracy Monument on Bangkok’s Ratchadamnoen Road to mark the sixth anniversary of the 2006 coup.
He told the red shirts that the country must think about the events of six years ago, and how they occurred.
He urged the Democrat Party to stop its attacks against the red-shirt movement over its alleged attempts to establish a new state.
He said the red shirts’ true wish is to change the country’s ruling system from aristocracy to true democracy.
Police deployed over 1,000 policemen to the monument and nearby areas to maintain peace and order and urged motorists to refrain from using the road from noon until midnight to avoid traffic congestion.
