Speculations is rife that Yongyuth Wichaidit would announce his resignation as deputy prime minister and interior minister later Friday.
Reporters were scrambling to check a Thai Rath report that Yongyuth has agreed to resign to save the Pheu Thai party. But none of Pheu Thai core members confirmed or denied the report.
Thai Rath reported that the Pheu Thai strategic committee decided to have Yongyuth step down from the Cabinet after the Interior Ministry’s Civil Service Sub-commission resolved on September 14 to fire him retroactively as the permanent secretary for Interior for having committed a severe disciplinary action.
