President Obama reminds voters that he got Osama bin Laden

Washington - US President Barack Obama recalled during a debate with challenger Mitt Romney what both had said about al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden during the 2008 president campaign.

"I said, if I got bin Laden in our sights, I would take that shot. You said we shouldn't move heaven and earth to get one man, and you said we should ask Pakistan for permission," Obama said during a debate with Romney, who fell short four years ago in his first bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Obama gave the order for a US special forces team to undertake the May 2011 raid on bin Laden's secret compound in Pakistan, where the terrorist network founder was killed. "It was worth moving heaven and earth to get him," Obama said.
He called his decision to authorize the bin Laden raid an example of "clarity of leadership" and reminded voters of the 2001 terrorist strikes blamed on al-Qaeda. "When we bring those who have harmed us to justice, that sends a message to the world," Obama said.//DPA
