Escalator girl dies after mall drama

A 12-year-old girl whose head got stuck between an escalator and the upper floor as the escalator was moving at Future Park Rangsit in Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok, two months ago has been pronounced dead at Bangkok Hospital.

The mall’s marketing director Rattana Ananthanaphong said yesterday Wichitra Wasutpichaikul, mother the victim named Nuanprae Wasutpichaikul, told her that Nuanprae died on Friday.
In September, Nuanprae’s hair got entangled in the escalator while she bent down to watch a show on the second floor of the mall while standing on an escalator moving from the second to the third floor. Doctors said the girl had a blood clot in the brain and was in coma. She was rushed to a hospital in Pathum Thani. Her mother later transferred her to undergo treatments at Bangkok Hospital.
Rattana said Future Park Rangsit had been responsible for the girl’s medical expenses.
