The United States is reportedly awaiting Thailand's response to its request for Barack Obama to have an audience with His Majesty the King during the US president's official visit to the Kingdom next week.
“No comment” was the US Embassy’s official line when asked to confirm this. A source at the Bangkok mission said yesterday that the schedule for Obama’s visit to Thailand had not been finalised.
Sources said the prime minister’s secretary-general, Suranand Vejjajiva, yesterday informed in writing the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary of the US request for Obama to have an audience with the King while he visits Thailand next Sunday and Monday.
