Second person dies from lift plunge

A second person succumbed to her injuries yesterday after a lift plunged from the fourth floor at a Home Furniture Class showroom in Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday morning.

Police have launched an investigation and are considering filing charges against the business owner. They say the lift was meant to move goods, not customers.
The latest death was that of social worker Prapawarin Jaidee, 35, who lost her eight-month-old foetus immediately after the accident. The other person killed was Siriphan Kaesoongnuen, 38, a sales clerk at the firm. Doctors say both victims sustained fatal injuries to their internal organs, and Prapawarin’s bleeding could not be stopped.
Prapawarin’s husband Krit Chuaychua, who was also inside the lift, has survived and is in a stable condition. Police expect to complete their investigation in two weeks.
