NSC chief says teargas firing not use of force

National Security Council Secretary-General Lt Gen Paradorn Pattanathabutr said police were not using excessive force when firing teargas at demonstrators at two intersections Saturday.

Paradorn said police simply tried to put the rally in order by having the protesters join the demonstration through the roads prepared as their passages.
He said the two intersections were blocked because the roads could lead to key government offices.
He said police also warned the protesters before firing teargas.
