The university will develop an additional land plot of 36 rai by adding buildings and facilities. The Poh Tek Tung Foundation has granted financial support for the further stage of the project.
The move will take advantage of the launching of the (AEC) in 2015. Health sciences and Chinese language and culture have been among the university’s key curricula for decades. It is now seeking more cooperation with institutes in the AEC and beyond to help enhance further graduate opportunities.
Kobchai Sosothikul, executive director of the Poh Tek Tung Foundation and a member of the Huachiew Chalermprakiet University Council, said the foundation was established 102 years ago and currently has three main tasks: social work and welfare, medical services, and education. With financial contributions from a vast number of successful businessmen of Chinese origin, along with the foundation’s continuing support, HCU has become a leading university in training quality graduates with knowledge, technical skills, and personality development and a high spirit of willingness to serve society.
To accommodate the needs of future global citizens, Poh Tek Tung Foundation has approved a budget of Bt2 billion to add 101,176 square metres of facilities to the university’s establishment on the newly brought plot of land of 36 rai, adjacent to the university. This is another big stage of development in the foundation’s support for the university. Such improvement will further enhance the university’s role in providing quality education and the competency of knowledge for workers in the countries of the region.
Construction is expected to start before February 2013 and the project is expected to be finished by June 2014.
