Apple, Google and Microsoft team up to buy Kodak patents

San Francisco - Apple and Google may be embroiled in a bitter patent dispute, but that hasn't stopped the companies from teaming up to buy a huge portfolio of digital imaging patents from bankrupt Kodak.

The two tech giants joined with Microsoft, Samsung, Facebook, Amazon, Fujifilm, RIM, Huawei and others in the 525-million-dollar deal, Kodak said in a statement Wednesday.
The transaction was organized by Intellectual Ventures and also includes an agreement to settle current patent-related litigation between the participants and Kodak. It still needs to be approved by the bankruptcy court.//DPA
