The 37-year-old Saomat was hospitalised for pre-eclampsia and bleeding in her brain. Doctors performed a 45-minute caesarean section to remove the child three months prematurely, and a five-hour surgical operation to reduce pressure on her brain. Pre-eclampsia is a medical condition that affects pregnant women, characterised by high blood pressure and significant amounts of protein in the urine.
Saomat’s husband Suksan Chuwiang said yesterday that the surgery went well and that Saomat and her child were stable. However, Saomat’s doctors would monitor her closely for two to three days to check for any further bleeding in her brain.
The singer’s sister, Suparat Comwong, said Topline Diamond Music executive Thaweechai Jariya-eium-udom would cover the nearly Bt2-million medical bills. She said the baby girl, named Methawee, was breathing on her own.
