60 Opposition MPs line up for debate

About 60 opposition MPs have lined up to criticise the government's Bt2 trillion borrowing bill, according to Democrat MP Jurin Laksanavisit.

The Opposition is allocaed 12.30 hours and could ask for 4 hours more.
He noted that the Opposition's top concern is the borrowing would give way to corruption, like the rice-pledging scheme. Moreover, this borrowing would incur a total debt of Bt5 trillion -  Bt2 trillion in principal and Bt3 trillion in accrued interest, leaving the burden to 12 governments.
Pheu Thai Party is reportedly prepared to launch a counter attack, resorting to the Democrat-led government's failure to ensure transparency in its borrowing programmes.
On this, Jurin urged the government not to threaten the Opposition with the past failures. "That's not creative and wasting the debate time."
