Panels to check for exam cheats

Five fact-finding panels have been set up to check for cheating in the recent assistant teacher exams in 10 educational zones in the Northeast deemed suspect, Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec) secretary-general Chinnapat Bhumirat said yester

He authorised the appointment of the five panels yesterday, he said. Each will be chaired by an inspector-general from the Education Ministry. They will conduct probes at Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Yasothon, Kalasin, Ubon Ratchathani and Nakhon Ratchasima.
“They have 30 days for inspection. After that they will report the probes’ findings to Obec, which will indicate [any sign of] cheating in any of those educational zones, [when] Obec will set up disciplinary panels” Chinnapat said.
He added that test-takers’ scores and related information from all 225 educational zones that prepare the exam should reach subcommittees of the Office of the Teacher Civil Service and Educational Personnel Commission in each zone. These would be checked for any unusual scores.
