Malaysian election could delay talks with separatists

The April 29 peace talks may have to be rescheduled due to the snap election in host-country Malaysia.

“I’ve been hearing about a postponement but this is still unclear pending confirmation from Kuala Lumpur,” Paradorn Patanathabutr, secretary-general of the National Security Council, said Tuesday.
The delay in holding the next meeting should not be attributed to the recent surge of violence in the strife-torn South, as the rapprochement was still at the confidence-building stage and had not been disrupted by the insurgent activities, he said.
