Doi Inthanon National Park deputy chief Jiradet Meemak said the hailstorm also caused a blackout from Friday until yesterday morning. So far no injuries or property damage had been reported, he said.
Meanwhile, Chiang Mai Lychee Farmer Co-op president Adulchai Inthakhao said the rainstorm over the last few days had caused damage amounting to about 30 per cent of total lychee production in Fang, Chai Prakan and Mae Ai districts. He said the change in climate – from extreme heat in April to rainstorms in early May – would lead to a smaller lychee harvest this year.
