Two charged in teacher exam scam

A school director and an assistant teacher from Nakhon Ratchasima were charged yesterday for their alleged roles in a cheating scandal involving as many as 344 top scorers on the Office of the Basic Education Commission's teacher-recruitment exam.

The suspects will soon be summoned for questioning, Department of Special Investigation chief Tarit Pengdith said.
“If they give useful information, they will be treated as witnesses,” he said.
“Otherwise, we will pursue the case against them to the end.”
Suspects should resign from assistant-teacher posts awarded to them as a result of the exams, he said.
“Otherwise, they will face disciplinary actions,” Tarit said.
The DSI has also recommended that the suspected cheaters’ employment be terminated.
Tarit said more arrest warrants in the case would be sought next week.
