DSI to quiz foundation on donation funds

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has asked Brother Sirichai Fonseka, president of St Gabriel's Foundation of Thailand, to provide testimony and information on May 23 regarding use of the foundation's donation money.

The Parent-Youth Network for Education Reform had asked DSI to probe the foundation executives’ bank accounts as well as their family and close aides’ money transactions. They want to determine whether the foundation’s donation money was spent inappropriately, DSI investigator Pol Lt Col Banthoon Chimkra said yesterday.
The network claimed the foundation received Bt2 billion in donations but still charged tuition fees at a too-high rate, which went against the foundation’s and the religion’s principles.
He said DSI was probing the case and the Revenue Department would give DSI the foundation’s tax information on May 28.
Banthoon said the DSI also sent an invitation for Brother Sirichai to provide testimony and submit documents on May 23 explaining the foundation’s alleged unusual spending as well as the alleged too-high tuition fees.
