Nakhon Pathom - A passenger van crashed into a trailer truck Sunday evening when the truck swirled and cut in front of it, killing seven in the van and injuring four others.
Police said the accident happened at 4:50 pm on Phetkasem Road at a U-turn spot in Nakhon Pathom’s Nakhon Chaisri district.
Police said the van crashed into the trailer part of the truck and six passengers were hurled out by the impact and died at the scene. One body was trapped inside the van. Four injured passengers were inside the van.
The truck driver, Yutthana Khunmuen, 21, said he was transporting land-filling soi to a construction site in Bangkok when a truck suddenly made a u-turn in front of his vehicle.
He said he could not stop his truck in time so he swirled to the right to avoid it but his vehicle lost control and slipped into the opposite land before the van crashed into the trailer part.
