So far, seven contenders have been eliminated.
The Office of Basic Education Commission (Obec) is holding an e-auction to seek suppliers for the government’s One Tablet Per Child project. The policy is applicable to Pathom 1 and Mathayom 1 students.
The e-auction for three of the four procurement zones will take place on Friday.
The Chinese supplier chosen for last year’s procurement, Shenzhen Scope Scientific Development, is among the finalists. Five other eligible companies are Shenzhen Yitoa Intelligent Control, Supreme Distribution, Haier Electrical Appliances, Thai Transmission Industry and SVOA.
These finalists will enter the e-auction for three different zones. Zone 1 has three eligible contenders, Zone 2 has four and Zone 3 has two.
The e-auction for Zone 4 will not be held at the same time because only one company, Shenzhen Yitao Intelligent Control, has made it through the pre-qualification round.
“I think we will call a bidding for Zone 4 again next month,” Obec adviser Anek Ratpiyapaporn said yesterday in his capacity as the chair of the e-auction panel.
