Bangkok's role in AEC studied

Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra Wednesday led a meeting to gather opinions to fine-tune an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015 proposal that would allow the further development of Bangkok. It is predicted to be completed within August.
The Strategy and Evaluation Department of Bangkok, along with the University and Consultancy Institute and Asean Studies Department at Thammasat University, has drafted the proposal after studying the effects that the 2015 regional economic integration may bring in order to ensure its synchronization with Bangkok’s policies.
“Additionally, we have strategized and implemented policies for the Association of South East Asian Nations – its political, social, and economic aspects – to transform and revolutionise [Bangkok] into a commercial centre of Asean,” Sukhumbhand said.
