Protesters waiting for Yingluck in front of Defence Ministry

As Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra plans to start her work as Thailand's first female Defence Minister today, about 300 protesters from the Thai Patriotic Front have been waiting for her at the venue.

Yingluck planned to arrive at the ministry at 11am but the protesters came before 8am.

Already protesting at Sanam Luang for over two months, the protesting group led by Chaiwat Sinsuwong today planned to obstruct Yingluck from getting into the ministry.

Tul Sitthisomwong, leader of the Multi-Color group who also joined in the protest, said he opposed any prime minister doubling as defence minister as it would mean political intervention in the military.
