Donations made to the Democrat Party via MP's salaries do not violate the law, Office of the Election Commission deputy secretary general Thanit Sriprathet said yesterday.
Thanit added that the commission’s legal experts had agreed with the political party registrar that, although the donations under scrutiny were not transferred in the form of cheques as outlined in the regulations, their transfer via deduction in MPs’ salaries allowed for proper verification and transparency.
Over 150 Democrat and Bhum Jai Thai MPs had made donations |to their parties via this means, he said. The EC has concluded its probe into the issue, affirmed Thanit.
