Lao Deputy Defense Minister Sanyahak Phomvihane has passed away on Wednesday. He was 45, state-run Lao News Agency reported Thursday.
Maj Gen Sanyahak, is a son of late Lao leader Kaysone Phomvihane. He was regarded as rising star who had strong potential to become leader of the country. He is the youngest general in Lao army.
It was not clear about the cause of his death as the official statement simply said he died of ‘a medical condition’. Both domestic and foreign doctors employed all resource and ability but failed to save him.
An official mourning ceremony for Sanyahak is being held between July 18-21 at the main hall of the Ministry of National Defence and his funeral will be held at 13.00 on Sunday, July 21 2013 at Wat Thepnimith, Vientiane Capital.
