Col Pramote said the province has lost two valuable persons as a result of the attack, and that the assailants had committed an extreme and inhumane act.
They had also tried to mislead the public into understanding that the officials were to be blamed for the death of two teachers.
Teachers Naheeha Yeera and Nusayahan A-wae were killed and another – Apichart Benchulamas – was wounded in the ambush.
Doctors said they were killed by shrapnel from the explosion as there were no bullet wounds on their bodies. Apichart was recovering after surgery.
Col Pramote said that the ISOC 4th Region Forward Command is committed to protecting teachers and schools in the southernmost provinces and would continue to provide security measures to the educators in the areas.
Meanwhile, Nipat Manee, director of the Narathiwat primary educational service area office 3 said that 18 schools in Chanae district have temporarily closed for two days for safety of teachers and would reopen on Monday.
He said the teachers would request additional security from the security agencies.
