Thais' Mother's Day wish: love one another

A recent survey conducted by Abac Poll Research Centre shows that most Thais want to see people express their love for one another on Mother's Day.

The survey, which covered 2,136 respondents in 17 provinces over the age of 18, asked respondents what they would like to tell their fellow Thais to do today – the national holiday for Mother’s Day.
Of those polled, 77 per cent said they wanted to see Thais love one another. “Show gratitude,” was the answer cited by 70 per cent, while “make sacrifices and be kind” was the wish of 61 per cent of respondents.
This survey aimed to assess the “mood” in Thai society with regards to Thais’ wishes to carry out good deeds for their mothers. According to the findings, 73 per cent planned to take their mothers to dine out today. About 65 per cent said they would give flowers to their mothers, while 61 per cent also mentioned taking their mothers to temples to make merit. Another 38 per cent said they intended to quit smoking or drinking for their mothers.
The Abac Poll Research Centre has described the family as an important institution in society. It recommended that relevant organisations take note of people’s wishes to do good deeds for their mothers and organise activities to help people realise their wishes.
“Of course, all mothers want to see Thais do good things and live morally-sound lives,” an executive of the research centre said.
