Foreign investors may sell more Thai shares

About 15-20 per cent of remaining foreign funds entering the Thai stock market after the launch of the United States' quantitative easing (QE) measures and could be pulled out, brokerage houses said.

Since the launch of QE, about Bt140 billion flew into the Thai equity market, Nomura Research said. Since May, about Bt77.4 billion has been sold or 65 per cent of total.
The research noted that if all remaining Bt49.6 billion foreign investment are pulled out, the SET index could fall to 1,310-1,225 points. If the sell-off ratio hits 90 per cent of total investment, the index could fall to 1,267 poionts. If the ratio is 80 per cent, the index would be 1,310 points.
It's unlikely that all would be sold off and foreign investors may accumulate shares again as the index declines, the research said.
