Somchai had filed an appeal against the July 28, 2011, court ruling in which the three defendants – Pol Snr Sgt-Major Pipat Saen-in, Pol Sgt-Major Panumas Chanakham and Pol Sergeant Anusorn Thaensuwan – were given a two-year jail sentence suspended for two years and fined Bt10,000 each for manslaughter.
Somchai said the defendants then visited the boy’s father, Sathaporn, in prison asking him to get his brother to withdraw his appeal in exchange for Bt1 million. Somchai said he had also consulted with his lawyer about suing the entire Royal Thai Police Bureau for compensation.
