Outside Phayao City Hall, over 1,000 farmers threatened to block a road if the government continued to ignore their plight.
They urged the government to guarantee farmers, with |land title deeds or otherwise, a price of Bt7 per kilogram for corn of less than 30-per-cent moisture.
In Chiang Mai, where 3,000 farmers from Mae Chaem district had camped out for the third day, the protesters blocked a road to city hall to pressure the governor or commerce minister to negotiate with them.
They demanded the government to buy up to 30 tonnes of corn per farmer at Bt8 per kilogram, to add more corn-buying stations in Mae Chaem from September 24 to February 28 and to give them a fertiliser allowance of Bt2,500 per rai for up to 30 rai per farmer.
