Govt may call for second reading on Article 190

The government will call for a joint House meeting in the next few weeks for the second reading of an amendment to Article 190 of the Constitution, chief government whip Aumnuay Khlangpha said yesterday.

Article 190 requires the government to seek parliamentary approval before sealing significant international agreements. He said the House and the Senate would possibly jointly deliberate the bill mid this month.
Pheu Thai MP Paijit Sreewarakan said the government whip also mentioned that they may hold off on a second reading of amendments to Articles 68 and 237, which are related to Senate elections, until the Constitutional Court has said whether or not it is constitutional.
