House panel to convene extra meetings to speed up amnesty bill vetting

The House committee vetting the amnesty bill Thursday resolved to hold meetings on Fridays apart from Thursdays to speed up the vetting process.

The coalition’s majority side voted to convene meetings on Fridays apart from Thursdays, starting this Friday.
Democrat MP Thana Chirawinij said he felt uneasy that the coalition flexed its majority muscle to force the vetting panel to speed up the process.
Thana said the decision to convene more meetings on Friday contradicted with the committee’s earlier decision.
But Samart Kaewmeechai, the chairman of the panel, said the latest decision overruled the previous decision. He said the panel would allow all sides to discuss every article of the bill in details.
