Police ask protesters to clear Urupong Intersection

Police Wednesday renewed efforts to have a group of protesters leave the Urupong Intersection and return to the Lumpini Park, saying local residents have filed complaints against them.

Pol Maj Gen Adul Narongsak, deputy commissioners of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said residents of the Prajaechin Market Community had filed complaints at the Phrayathai police station against the Students and People Network for Thailand Reform.
Adul said the local residents complained that the demonstrations at the intersection on the outbound Rama VI Road, which continued since last Thursday, prevented them from entering their home.
Moreover, mobile toilets were set up in front of their houses and causing foul smell and the wasted water also flew into the houses and shops, turning away prospect customers.
The local residents also complained that the use of public addressing system, speeches and music on the stage caused them to be unable to sleep at night and the rally also prevented their prospect customers from reaching the market.
