Tokyo - Japan posted a trade deficit of 932 billion yen (9.5 billion dollars) in September, the 15th-consecutive month of trade loss, due to a weaker yen and record imports from China, the government said Monday.

Imports from China, Japan's biggest trading partner, jumped 31 per cent from a year earlier to 1.68 trillion yen. The trade deficit with the world's second-largest economy rose 87 per cent to 620 billion yen,f or the 19th-straight month of loss, the Finance Ministry said in a preliminary report.

Japan's exports grew 11.5 per cent to 5.97 trillion yen, marking seven months of increase amid a global economic recovery.//DPA
